Sockets, Socket Sets & Accessories

Socket sets include ratchets and a range of socket sizes for tightening and loosening nuts and bolts.  Deep sockets reach recessed fasteners, while universal joints and extensions access awkward angles.  Invest in metric and imperial sets to cover all applications.

How do I choose the right socket size for my job?
Match the socket size to the fastener head — using a size that’s too large can round off the fastener, while one that’s too small won’t fit. Metric sockets are measured in millimetres, and imperial sockets in inches, so check your fastener type first.

What’s the difference between 6-point and 12-point sockets?
A 6-point socket grips the flat sides of the fastener for better torque and less rounding, making it ideal for high-torque applications. A 12-point socket is easier to position in tight spaces but offers slightly less grip strength.

How can I maintain my socket set for long-term use?
Keep sockets clean and free from dirt or grease, lightly oil moving parts like ratchets, and store them in their designated case to prevent loss and damage. Avoid using sockets with impact tools unless they are rated for impact use.
