Sanding Blocks

Sanding blocks provide a comfortable grip for hand sanding and ensure even pressure across the abrasive.  Rubber and foam blocks conform to curves, while rigid blocks flatten edges.

What are sanding blocks used for?
Sanding blocks hold abrasive sheets firmly in place, giving you a flat, even surface for sanding. They make it easier to apply uniform pressure and achieve smoother results compared to hand-sanding alone.

Are sanding blocks available in different types?
Yes. Some are simple manual blocks that you wrap sandpaper around, while others are foam or rubber blocks that conform to curves and contours. There are also sanding sponges, which combine block support with built-in abrasive grit.

How can I get the best results with a sanding block?
Always sand with the grain of the wood, keep the block flat to avoid gouging, and replace worn abrasive sheets promptly. For curved surfaces, use a flexible block or sponge to maintain even contact.
