Sanding Belts

Sanding belts fit belt sanders and edge sanders.  Coarse grits rapidly remove stock, while fine grits smooth surfaces.  Aluminium oxide and zirconia alumina belts suit wood and metal.

What are sanding belts best suited for?
Sanding belts are designed for belt sanders and are excellent for fast material removal, shaping wood, smoothing large surfaces, and even grinding certain metals. They’re often used in woodworking, fabrication, and finishing tasks.

How do I choose the right sanding belt material?
Aluminium oxide belts are good all-rounders for wood and soft metals, zirconia belts work well for harder materials and longer life, and ceramic belts are ideal for heavy-duty industrial applications where high pressure is applied.

Why does my sanding belt slip or break during use?
Slipping can be caused by incorrect tensioning or worn sander rollers, while breakage often results from using the wrong belt speed, overheating, or an old/dried-out belt. Always check compatibility and adjust tracking before use.
