What is the purpose of a flap wheel?

Flap wheels are used to grind and finish hard-to-reach areas of metal or plastic pipes and tubes. Coated abrasive wheels are made up of multiple abrasive sheets connected to a core. Flap wheels are used for different metalworking applications including fabrication, deburring, cleaning, polishing, and finishing.

Can you sand with a flap wheel?

Choose Flat faced discs for finishing or more controlled grinding applications with a lower grinding pressure is used. Hints & Tips: Which shape of flap disc you choose to use is entirely personal preference. Both flat & bevel edged flap discs will grind and sand equally well.

What is the difference between a flap wheel and a flap disc?

Flap Discs allow you to see through the wheel while it is in use. (V.S.R. stands for Visible Stock Removal.) Flap wheels are similar to flap discs in that they shape metal, but flap wheels are designed to allow you to grind and finish hard-to-access areas such as the inside of pipes or tubes.
