Reciprocating Saw Blades

Reciprocating saw blades come in wood cutting, metal cutting and demolition variants.  Bi metal blades combine flexibility and durability, and specialised tooth patterns tackle plaster, pruning and abrasive materials.

What materials can reciprocating saw blades cut?
Reciprocating saw blades are highly versatile and can cut through a wide range of materials, including:

  • Wood and tree branches

  • Nails, screws, and metal pipes

  • PVC and plastic

  • Drywall, plaster, and masonry (with carbide grit blades)
    Choosing the right blade allows for fast, efficient demolition and installation work.

How do I choose the right blade for my task?
Key factors to consider:

  • Tooth count (TPI – Teeth Per Inch):

    • 6–10 TPI for fast wood cuts

    • 14–24 TPI for thin metal and precise cuts

    • 10–14 TPI for general-purpose use

  • Blade material:

    • Bi-metal for metal and wood with nails

    • Carbide-tipped for tough materials like stainless steel or cast iron

    • High carbon steel for wood

  • Blade length:

    • Short blades (100–150 mm) for control

    • Long blades (200–300 mm+) for deep cuts or flush trimming

Can I use the same blade for multiple materials?
While general-purpose blades exist, it's best to match the blade to the material for optimal results. Using a wood blade on metal can dull or damage it quickly, and metal blades tend to cut more slowly through wood. For demolition work, bi-metal blades offer the flexibility to handle mixed materials like wood with embedded nails.
