Polishes, Protectants, Rust Solutions & Accessories

Polishing accessories include buffing pads, bonnets, compounds and polishing balls for use with rotary polishers.  These products restore shine to paint, metal and plastics.  Different compounds cut, polish and finish to achieve a mirror gloss.

What is included in this category and what are they used for?

What’s the difference between rust removers, converters, and protectants?

  • Rust removers: Chemically dissolve rust to restore bare metal

  • Rust converters: Neutralize rust and form a paintable protective coating

  • Protectants: Prevent moisture and oxygen from causing corrosion; often leave a waxy or oily barrier
    For long-term protection, it’s best to remove or convert rust first, then apply a protectant.

How do I choose the right product or accessory for my needs?

  • Polishing: Use metal polish or compound with soft cloths, foam pads, or buffing wheels

  • Protecting: Choose sprays like WD-40, corrosion inhibitors, or paste waxes for tools and surfaces

  • Rust treatment: Use gel or liquid removers for tools, and converters for painted or hard-to-reach surfaces

  • Accessories: Include microfiber cloths, buffing pads, applicators, and wire brushes for applying or removing products
    Always follow safety instructions, especially when using chemical rust treatments or aerosol sprays.
