Pliers

Pliers grip, twist, cut and crimp.  Needle‑nose pliers reach into confined spaces, combination pliers handle multiple tasks, side cutters snip wire and locking pliers clamp securely.  Choose insulated pliers when working with electrical circuits.

What are the main types of pliers and their uses?
Common types include combination pliers (general gripping and cutting), needle-nose pliers (fine, precise work in tight spaces), locking pliers (firm grip on objects), and side cutters (cutting wire). Choosing the right type depends on the task.

How can I stop pliers from slipping while in use?
Use pliers with textured or rubberised grips, and make sure the handles and your hands are clean and dry. For stubborn materials, locking pliers can provide extra holding power.

What’s the best way to maintain pliers so they last longer?
Keep the pivot joint oiled for smooth action, store them in a dry toolbox to prevent rust, and avoid using them on materials beyond their rated strength, which could damage the jaws or alignment.
