MIG, TIG, MMA Welders & Plasma Cutters

MIG welders feed a continuous wire electrode for speedy fabrication.  TIG welders create precise, clean welds in stainless steel and aluminium.  MMA (stick) welders are versatile and portable for outdoor use.  Choose machines with adjustable current, duty cycle and arc start features

What’s the difference between MIG, TIG, and MMA welding machines?

  • MIG (Metal Inert Gas) – Uses a wire feed and shielding gas, ideal for beginners and general fabrication.

  • TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) – Provides precision and high-quality welds, especially on thin metals and stainless steel.

  • MMA (Manual Metal Arc / Stick Welding) – Versatile and works well outdoors or on dirty/rusty metals, great for structural work.

How do I choose the right welding machine for my needs?
Consider the materials and thicknesses you’ll be welding. For quick fabrication on mild steel, a MIG welder is often best. For fine detail and stainless work, TIG is preferred. MMA is the most portable and forgiving on less-than-clean metal surfaces.

What safety precautions are essential when using welding machines?
Always wear a proper welding helmet, gloves, and protective clothing to prevent burns and UV exposure. Work in a well-ventilated area to avoid fume inhalation, and keep a fire extinguisher nearby in case of sparks.
