Liberon produces a premium range of finishes, polishes and waxes that protect and beautify wood. From French polish and finishing oil to waxes for antique restoration, Liberon products bring out the natural character of timber and provide long lasting protection.

What types of woodcare products does Liberon offer, and who uses them?

Liberon has been a trusted name in wood finishing since 1912. Their range includes high-performance finishing oils, waxes, varnishes, wood dyes, French polish, cleaners, fillers, and preparation products—designed for both trade professionals and DIY woodworkers. Liberon covers interior and exterior use, from furniture restoration to deck protection.

What benefits do Liberon oils and waxes offer?

  • Finishing Oil delivers a water-, heat-, alcohol- and food-acid–resistant satin finish—ideal for kitchen surfaces, worktops and furniture—but allows the natural grain to shine through.

  • Wax Polish (e.g. Black Bison Paste or Liquid Wax Polish) nourishes and seals wood surfaces while giving a soft sheen and timeless protection.

  • Both support easy maintenance: oils can be re‑applied annually, and waxes can be refreshed effortlessly throughout the year.

How should Liberon finishes be applied and surfaces prepared?

Proper preparation is key: start with clean, dry wood, sanding to bare wood if needed. Use Fine Wood Stripper to remove old paint or varnish, Wax & Polish Remover for wax finishes, followed by tack cloths to eliminate dust. Once ready, apply Finishing Oil with a lint‑free cloth or brush, let it penetrate for ~10 minutes, wipe away excess, and allow to dry for at least 5 hours. Usually, three or more coats yield a durable finish. Wax polish and ultrafine steel wool (Grade 0000) can be used between coats for a smoother sheen.
