Straight off the shelf the blade shaves paper with ease. Setting the blade depth accurately and level takes a bit of tapping, checking and measuring. A blade which is not set level will yield a finish which is off square, this plane is that sharp. I prefer the pull action and it enables me to shave paper thin, even strands of material. In skilled hands I see the Japanese style planes outperforming traditional push planes and leaving a better finish. Awesome quality tool for a really affordable price. Get the whole set!
