Grinding Points & Burrs

Mounted grinding points attach to die grinders and rotary tools for fine grinding, deburring and polishing of metal and glass.  Available in various shapes and abrasives, they reach inside holes and tight spaces.

What are grinding points used for?
Grinding points are small, precision-shaped abrasives used with rotary tools, die grinders, and drill presses for detailed grinding, shaping, deburring, and surface prep on metal, plastic, wood, and stone. They’re ideal for tight spaces, fine detail work, and cleaning up welds or castings in automotive, metalworking, and craft applications.

What types of grinding points are available and how do they differ?
Grinding points come in a variety of shapes, sizes, and materials:

  • Shapes: bullet, cone, cylindrical, ball, and tapered – each suited for specific angles or contours

  • Materials:

    • Aluminum oxide – for general metal grinding

    • Silicon carbide – for harder materials like ceramics and glass

    • Pink or white stone – for finer, smoother finishes or heat-sensitive materials
      Select the right combination based on material, required finish, and tool compatibility.

How do I safely and effectively use grinding points?

  • Always use grinding points with a tool rated for their size and RPM

  • Secure the bit tightly and wear appropriate eye and face protection

  • Avoid applying excessive pressure—let the abrasive do the work

  • For best results, match the shape to the surface and use a steady hand for clean detailing
    Regularly check the point for wear or imbalance and replace if it becomes glazed, chipped, or uneven.
