In 1776, when America was still a British Colony and Thomas Chippendale Senior was still accepting commissions for his exquisite furniture, another Yorkshire born Thomas - Thomas Sanderson of Attercliffe near Sheffield, set about making the first ever Pax handsaw.

Pax handsaws are a true pleasure to use and are renowned for their professional quality, with the steamed beech handles and alloy steel blade that has are taper ground and breasted to minimise binding. All of the teeth are hand set and individually sharpened, this is one of those tools that can be handed down from father to son.

Pax handsaws are one of the finest handsaws available today. Using the history and tradition of Pax, these saws are still made to original specifications. Handcrafted from the finest alloy steel these saws are taper ground and breasted (meaning less teeth are in contact with the wood and therefore less friction) and are precisely set and sharpened by hand to ensure the best possible cut without binding.

This is a smooth-cutting dovetail saw with a brass-backed, alloy-steel blade set within a two-tone, steamed beech handle.

  • The 20 tpi blade, finely set and sharpened by hand, has a rip pattern for fine joinery cuts with the grain
  • The 8" blade has a 2 1/4" cut depth
  • Measures about 13" overall
