Cyanoacrylates (Super Glues)

Cyanoacrylate adhesives (super glues) provide instant bonding on plastics, metal, wood and ceramics.  They are useful for small repairs and model making.  Accelerator sprays speed up curing when bonding porous materials.

What are cyanoacrylate adhesives best suited for?
They’re fast-setting adhesives ideal for bonding small parts and non-porous materials such as plastics, ceramics, rubber, and metals. They’re widely used for quick repairs, precision assembly, and crafts.

Why does super glue sometimes not stick to certain plastics?
Some plastics, like polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP), have low surface energy, making them resistant to bonding. In these cases, a surface primer or special formulation of cyanoacrylate is required.

How can I safely handle and store cyanoacrylate adhesives?
Avoid contact with skin and eyes, as they bond instantly. Store in a cool, dry place, tightly sealed to prevent curing from moisture in the air. For longer shelf life, some people refrigerate unopened tubes, but always let the glue reach room temperature before use.
