Cut-Off & Cutting Discs

Cut off discs and cutting discs mount on angle grinders and cut off saws to slice through metal, stone and concrete.  Thin discs minimise heat and burrs for clean cuts.  Always choose discs rated for the speed of your grinder and the material being cut.

What are cut-off and cutting discs used for?
Cut-off and cutting discs are thin, high-speed abrasive or diamond wheels used to cut through metal, stone, concrete, tile, and plastic. They’re commonly fitted to angle grinders, die grinders, or stationary cut-off machines, and are ideal for metal fabrication, construction, plumbing, and automotive work.

What types of cutting discs are available and how do I choose the right one?

  • Metal cutting discs – usually made from aluminum oxide; suitable for steel, stainless steel, and iron

  • Diamond cutting discs – used for stone, tile, concrete, and brick

  • Multi-material discs – for users needing versatility across metals and masonry
    Choose based on the material to be cut, disc diameter (e.g. 115 mm, 125 mm, 230 mm), and disc thickness (thinner for cleaner, faster cuts; thicker for durability). Always check that your disc matches the RPM rating of your grinder.

How do I safely use a cutting disc?

  • Always use safety gear: goggles, gloves, ear protection, and a dust mask

  • Never exceed the maximum RPM printed on the disc

  • Use the correct disc type and size for your tool and application

  • Do not apply side pressure—cutting discs are designed for straight cuts only

  • Inspect discs before use for cracks or damage and store them in a dry place to prevent degradation
