However, there are several things to consider before choosing the best circular saw for your needs, including:
Is a cordless circular saw worth it?
Going cordless is beneficial for mobile work or during load-shedding hours. If you go the cordless route, you’ll need to decide between a brushed or brushless motor.
Do you want a left-handed or right-handed circular saw?
Some circular saws are designed with the blade on the left or right side of the motor. This is sometimes referred to as "left-handed" or "right-handed" saws, and it’s a matter of personal preference in terms of which layout is “best”.
Some users prefer a saw with the blade on the left, which allows them to see the cutting line more easily. Other users may prefer a saw with the blade on the right, which can provide better balance and stability while cutting.
What size blade should you get?
Typically speaking, circular saw blades come in two common sizes: 160+ mm and 190+ mm. Needless to say, a 190 mm blade won’t fit on a machine designed for a 160 mm blade. Ideally, you want to select your preferred blade size beforehand while recognising that bigger-blade machines typically have more power and can make deeper cuts.
What material do you predominantly cut?
Certain metals, composites and hardwoods require a more powerful circular saw motor. Keep your applications in mind when shopping for a circular saw.
