Callipers & Dividers

Callipers measure internal and external dimensions, while dividers scribe circles and transfer measurements.  Vernier and digital callipers provide precise readings in millimetres and inches.  Dividers mark arcs and equal segments on workpieces.

What’s the difference between callipers and dividers?
Callipers are used to measure the distance between two points, either inside, outside, or depth, often with a scale or digital readout. Dividers are used to scribe arcs, circles, or transfer measurements without directly reading them.

Which type of calliper is best for precision work?
Digital callipers offer quick, accurate readings and can switch between metric and imperial units. Vernier callipers provide high accuracy without batteries, while dial callipers give a clear mechanical readout. The choice depends on your preference and environment.

How do I keep my measuring tools accurate?
Handle them gently, avoid dropping them, and store them in a protective case. Keep measuring faces clean, and for digital callipers, remove the battery if storing for long periods to avoid corrosion.
