Bandsaw Blades

Bandsaw blades come in various widths, tooth configurations and materials to cut wood, metal and plastics.  Choose narrow blades for tight curves and wide blades for resawing.  Bi metal and carbide tipped blades extend life when cutting harder materials.

How do I choose the right bandsaw blade for my material?
Blade selection depends on:

  • Tooth configuration:

    • Regular teeth for smooth cuts in wood and metal

    • Hook teeth for faster, aggressive cuts in thick wood or plastic

    • Skip teeth for softwoods and non-ferrous metals

  • TPI (Teeth Per Inch):

    • Lower TPI (3–6) for fast, rough cuts in thick stock

    • Higher TPI (10–14+) for smooth, slow cuts in thin or hard materials

  • Blade width: Wider blades (12–20 mm) for straight cuts; narrower blades (3–6 mm) for tight curves

What’s the difference between carbon, bi-metal, and carbide-tipped bandsaw blades?

  • Carbon steel blades are economical and great for wood and light plastics

  • Bi-metal blades combine flexibility and hardness—ideal for metalworking and frequent use

  • Carbide-tipped blades are extremely durable and best for cutting abrasive materials, hardwoods, or composites
    Choosing the right blade type improves cutting performance, longevity, and safety.

How often should I replace a bandsaw blade?
Replace the blade when you notice:

  • Burning or smoking wood during cuts

  • Wandering cuts or reduced control

  • Visible dull or damaged teeth

  • Slower cutting performance despite feed rate adjustments
    For optimal results, regularly clean and inspect your blade, and always use the right blade tension and speed for the material.
