Veritas Carcass Saw, Rip-Cut, 12 TPI
Veritas has merged modern materials and traditional design to create this well balanced and excellent cutting carcass saw. As you can tell from the name, carcass saws are used to cut furniture carcass pieces and elements of the framework like joints in drawer runners, dividers, and stretchers.
Not quite as beefy as a tenon saw, the Veritas Carcass Saw is scaled for smaller work than a tenon saw, yet maneuverable enough to easily cut dovetails. The 11” (279mm) high-carbon steel blade has rip-cut configured teeth @ 12 tpi, with a rake angle of 10° (included angle of 60°) and is 0.02" (0.508mm) thick.
The teeth are set at only 0.003" (0.0762mm) per side. The blade's spine is made from high-pressure injected-moulded resin, with stainless steel powder & glass fibres resulting in a strong and stiff backer that keeps the blade straight & true.
Patterned from antique saws with elegantly curved handles, the saw's solid Bubinga (African rosewood) handle nestles into your hand to give you exceptional cutting control. The depth of cut is 2-3/8” (60.3mm). Overall length is 16-3/8” (416mm).
